Bright Network 

Interview task: Canva social media posts 

For a Junior Graphic Designer interview task at Bright Network, I was tasked with creating social media posts for blog content, using Canva to design posts suitable for Instagram and LinkedIn.

 

The creative challenge was to bring fresh and engaging visuals to the typically "boring" topic of job hunting and apprenticeships - while appealing to Bright Network’s target audience of undergraduates and university students.

 

The Bright Network color scheme (grey and yellow) was used to stay aligned with their branding, and I had creative freedom to write the blog posts and create original titles.

In my designs, I aimed to bridge the gap between the old-school perception of job hunting and the modern audience of students and young professionals.

 

To achieve this, I incorporated retro black-and-white images, which evoke a nostalgic feel, and combined them with modern, meme-styled titles and bold, contemporary typefaces.

The result was a playful yet informative design style that resonates with the younger demographic, making job-related topics more accessible and fun.

 

The juxtaposition of retro visuals with modern elements highlighted the contrast between traditional and new-age perspectives on career development.

For one post, I wanted to showcase my versatility as a designer, so I deviated from the traditional grey and yellow color scheme to create a vibrant, bold design using bright colors.

 

This design was a deliberate move to demonstrate my ability to step outside brand guidelines when necessary, creating a more eye-catching and energetic feel that could resonate with a broader audience.

 

The use of vivid colors introduced an extra layer of creativity, proving my capacity to explore different design avenues while still keeping the core messaging clear and engaging.
